Most Voters Think Obama's Job Creation Strategy is "Ineffective"

By Brad O'Leary and Peyton Knight

Washington, D.C. — On the heels of yet another depressing unemployment report, a recent poll conducted by Zogby International shows that a majority of Americans are losing patience with the Obama administration's inability to stimulate job growth. The Poll was conducted June 25-28 and surveyed 2,061 likely voters.

The Poll asked:

Please tell us how effective you think the Obama administration has been in using stimulus money to create jobs for the small business community?

Among all voters, 57% say that the Obama administration has been ineffective, and a sizeable 47% say the administration has been "not at all effective" in creating jobs. Just 39% of voters think the Obama administration's use of stimulus money to create jobs has been effective.

A strong majority of Independent voters (60%) say the Obama administration has been ineffective at creating jobs, and 50% of Independents say it's been "not at all effective." Only 36% of Independents think the administration has been effective at job creation.

A majority of young voters age 18-29 (51%) also say the White House has been ineffective at stimulating job growth, while 44% say it has been effective.

Among voters who had to pay taxes last year, 59% say that the Obama administration has been ineffective, and just 38% say otherwise. As for voters who did not have any tax liability last year (due to either low income or numerous tax deductions), 49% say the administration has been ineffective, and 42% say it has been effective.

An overwhelming 90% of Tea Party followers say Obama and his team have been ineffective at creating jobs, including 86% who say the White House has been "not at all effective." Only 8% of Tea Party followers say the Obama administration has been effective.

Nearly 61% of small business owners think that the Obama administration has been ineffective at job creation, including 52% who say it has been "not at all effective," while just 35% say the administration has been effective.

"The unemployment numbers don't lie and neither do these poll numbers," said Brad O'Leary, publisher of The O'Leary Report. "Most voters recognize that this is the Obama administration's unemployment crisis and that the White House has yet to do anything positive on the job creation front."

The Zogby International Poll was commissioned by The O'Leary Report newsletter. The Poll surveyed 2,061 voters June 25-28, and has a margin-of-error of plus-or-minus 2.2 percentage points. To view full Poll results and crosstabs, go to OLearyReport.com.
